Enjoy!
The basics
I was born somewhere near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on February 15th, 1984. My eyes are dark brown, almost black. My hair is mostly black, though through my life I've found red, blonde, and brown strands. My hair and eyes are actually the only vanities I have about my body (unless you count my voice). I have only one hole in each ear at the moment. I may get another hole or two in my left ear; we'll see. Tattoos: I have none at the moment of this writing, but I plan to have at least one within five years. My nicknames are Shortie, Cons, Connie, and Miss Giggles. I don't smoke, I don't drink alcohol, and I don't do drugs. I have one younger sister. We had a dog for almost twelve years, but she passed away almost three years ago. We (la familia) haven't had any other pets since then. I have no children at this time, but am planning (hoping..) to have at least one in the next decade.
I play piano, and sing. Other instruments I would like to learn are feadóg stáin and the guitar.
Where I've been
Ten summers in my life were spent traveling around New England. I think we visited each New England state twice, when all was said and done. It's thanks to these travels that I have a sense and love of history, but I also enjoy just lounging on the New Jersey beaches, and wading into the Atlantic Ocean. That's where I prefer to go for vacation these days, since it's much cheaper. I've also had the opportunity a few times to travel out of the country. With those opportunities, I've seen Canada, Korea, France, Germany, Austria, and Hungary. I've also seen Washington, D.C. many times, between school trips and visits. Where would I retire to? I have no clue. There's so much of the rest of the world that I haven't seen. Scotland, for instance, as well as Ireland, Wales, Italy and Greece.
Some views/opinions
Three wells are put before me. One is labeled Love. The second Beauty, and the third, Creativity. I'm allowed only one drink. I choose Creativity. Love and Beauty both fade with time. But Creativity, and its results, last
I think the most important thing I've learned from life is that everything changes. Nothing is written in stone: the only constants in life are birth, change, and death.
Does God have a gender? I don't know. I think that humans assign genders to non-human spirits depending on our own stereotypes, expectations and the norms of local society. Being the great Creator, I believe God isn't restricted to a specific gender; God is beyond physical concerns.
Organized religion: I prefer not to take part in it, because I would rather define my own thoughts and beliefs, rather than be told that something I believe or think is wrong or right.
I believe there is an afterlife, no matter what it might include. For some, it's Heaven and Hell; for others, it's reincarnation. No one can know for sure just what happens after we die. But I do strongly believe that it's more than just death, and then nothing.
The favorites
My obsessions in life are music and crafts. Those who have read my notes on choir rehearsals have probably surmised that I'm hoping to have a career in music, but the crafts aspect, I know, is only evident to those who know me in real life. My main thing right now is knitting: I'm working on two different projects at this moment, and contemplating two or three more. An additional addiction is caffeine. Those who know me know how I love my caffeine, whatever the form. Read: my nicknames.
I read fantasy books out the wazoo, with a few classics and general fiction thrown in for variety. My favorite titles of all time are: The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Silver Wolf by Alice Borchardt, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, the Black Jewels trilogy by Anne Bishop, and the Troy Game series by Sara Douglass
My favorite colors depend on my mood. They are (in no order): black, blue, green, silver, white, grey, copper, and purple. Given the choice between gold, platinum or silver, I'll choose silver every time.
My favorite foods depend, as well, on my mood. Generally you'll find me working on a tuna salad or turkey sandwich, wheat crackers with cheese, pasta salad, or a meatball & mozzarella Lean Pocket. My preferred salad dressing is either Hidden Valley Ranch or Wishbone Romano-Basil Vinaigrette. My comfort foods of choice are also favorites in each of their respective categories: apple-cinnamon pie (or Mom's apple crisp), Breyer's Natural Vanilla ice cream, and Entenmann's Cherry-cream cheese danish. I'll take my popcorn buttered and salted, and when it comes to drinks, I'll choose Pepsi over Coke any day. My favorite drink, though depends on my mood and on what I'm eating. My usual choices include: Snapple or Arizona lemon iced teas, Tropicana or Caprisun fruit punches, Auntie Anne's lemonade, Sunkist, Hi-C or Fanta orange sodas, or rice punch. Some mornings when I feel like I need the energy boost, you'll find me with a 12-oz cup of cappuccino. However, when I feel the need to purge my body, I go for water, cranberry, or apple juice.
My favorite TV shows include but are not limited to Burn Notice, Dog: The Bounty Hunter, Family Guy, Charmed, Numb3rs, Dead Like Me, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and both Highlander and its spin-off, Highlander: The Raven. When they were airing, I also faithfully watched Xena: Warrior Princess and Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. If you've ever seen my wishlist, you've noticed that I didn't include movies. That's because it's way too long. I enjoy a lot of movies. But of those many movies, very few make my top favorites list: The Secret Garden, Elizabeth, The Philadelphia Story, and The Princess Bride. Anime: Card Captor Sakura, Sailor Moon, Outlaw Star, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Cowboy Bebop, Fushigi Yuugi, Ayashi no Ceres.
My favorite holiday is Christmas, which enforces my love of spiced apple and spiced pumpkin scents. I also love the smell of lavender, and that of my favorite body soap: Dove Cool Moisture. Another one is from one of my favorite flowers, the Stargazer Lily. Perfume? Bath & Body Works: Black Raspberry Vanilla.
Speaking of flowers, my favorites are: Stargazer Lily, as previously stated, the Rose of Sharon (Korean national flower), Morning Glory, Lily of the Valley, white snowdrops, white crocuses, white daisies, and cream/ivory roses. I like almost any flower that grows wild, but mostly those that bloom in early to mid spring.
Sports I like to watch are soccer (especially World Cup), figure skating, gymnastics, swimming (most especially the Olympic events), and equestrian sports. My favorite sports to play are volleyball and soccer, and during the winter, I prefer snowboarding.
Season: Spring or autumn.
Preferences
I don't like wearing make-up much. The only things I use are eyeliner and concealer, and even at that, I don't wear it every day. The eyeliner pretty much gets reserved for special occasions, and the concealer is only worn when the dark circles under my eyes look especially horrible.
Beach, city or country, I enjoy it all. It all depends on my mood, whether I'd rather be taking in the hustle and bustle of city life or just enjoying an idyllic day in the countryside. Either way, one thing is certain: I must be within two hours' drive of the beach.
The movies I enjoy watching are usually: comedy, drama, historic comedy/drama, action, and chick-flicks (usually only when PMSing).
If I could have one super power, it would either be teleportation or aquakinesis.
My three wishes: Good health forever, a lifetime supply of good books and music (which I technically already have...), and my dreamhouse.
Miscellaneous
I've never played strip poker, and never been kissed under a mistletoe, but I've been in love, had sex, been dumped, had feelings for someone who didn't return them, and cried myself to sleep on a few nights. I've never been on a blind date, never had a one-night stand, never watched the sun rise with any of my boyfriends, and never danced in the rain. On several occasions, due to depression, I lost desire to live. I've made prank calls but never been arrested. I've never cut class, never stolen any street signs, never been in a fist fight; I vent my anger and frustrations by bitching here, on my journal. I've never been fired or laid off; I quit my first job to concentrate on school. I've never had the experience of catching a snowflake on my tongue, or of laughing until my beverage came out of my nose. I've never crashed a party, or made bonfires in any beach or field. I've sung karaoke before, with family, and I've gotten lost at least twice.
When I was little I played cops and robbers, wrote letters to Santa and Mrs. Claus, and blew bubbles. I used to like wearing hats, but don't anymore. I can't remember the last time I colored with crayons. My appendix was removed when I was 10/11 (I spent my birthday in the hospital), but I'm still in possession of my tonsils.
I have a lot of hobbies to counter-act boredom. Scrapbooking, knitting, beading, reading (all of which can be done while watching TV), riding my bike, surfing the internet, and hanging out with friends.
I don't much feel the need to relax. When I do, it's after a long, hard day at work. So, when that happens, the usual routine is started out by taking a leisurely shower, after which I change into clean, comfortable sleepwear. Then I grab some healthy food, and sit down in front of the TV or computer.
In ten years as of the time of this post, I see myself married, maybe with one child, working full-time.
